This is a very dear lens in more than one sense. It's a rare lens that was only produced in ca. 200 pcs. from 1998 to 2001, simply because it was very difficult to produce, and Leica eventually gave up making a profit on it. (And it wasn't because it wasn't an expensive lens in the first place to acquire).

Film's not dead, it just smells funny

) Adorama, Freestyle Photo, Village Photo in Ballston Spa, and B&H.   I don't usually process it myself. It goes to McGreevy ProLab in Albany or to Village Photo, depending on type of film and format (35mm or medium). I shoot both digital and film. I get film at a variety of places - CVS (they still have tri-x. I'm not alone in shooting film either. com have some wonderful shots from film photographers. People don't ask a writer what word processor (or typewriter) they use to make their work with. In reality, I don't need to give any answer besides why not. I think there's a place for both....

Voigtlander 35/1.2 Nokton version I

I first had my doubts about using any other lens on a Leica M but my friend Keith who is an accomplished street photographer swears by it. I ordered one and when it arrived, the packaging was less than impressive. It was my first ever Voigtlander lens. I vividly remember it was dusk when I attached it to my digital camera. But we buy photographic products not for the packaging but for the image quality it can produce.  This is the widest 35mm production lens available in the market today so I was expecting fabulous results. Needless to say, I was a Voigtlander convert from that day on. I salute Cosina, the Japanese company that makes these beautiful lenses on the fine job that they did. I hurriedly unwrapped it and inside the simple box was a folded information sheet and some material to protect the lens from shock. I bought the Voigtlander 35 Nokton a little over two years ago....

However you can get different focusing screens which make focusing easier, depending on circumstances you are using your camera in.

Balmy October, Part 1 (Saturday 1 October, 2011)

On a technical note, it was one of many examples from the day of just how flare resistant the 35mm Nokton f1. 2 vII is. I like to use film because I love it. Using film creates a physical chronicle, by the negative, of the day and the photograph. I also use a digital Leica M8. 2 rangefinder camera alongside, not instead of, my film cameras. Processing negatives many days after shooting them means I look back at the chronicle with fresh eyes not a deletable preview on the back of my digital camera. It creates distance and encourages a more deliberate style of shooting, even when shooting the everyday. Although largely silhouetted by the sun behind them, I love the orderly chaos of this family scene, with smoke blazing from their beach bar-b-q, and the woman covering her face from my prying camera.
